I did not think much about it until I started noticing a wave of social media posts linking overstimulation to emotions like anger or frustration. There were viral TikToks where a man does something trivial and the woman reacts with annoyance or disdain, paired with a TikTok sound about fighting or losing control. I saw similar posts on X. I get the humor in these trends. And I think it is worthwhile to examine how men and women self-regulate differently, whether because of hormones, social conditioning, or neurological factors.

But after enough encounters where women excused unkind behavior by saying they were overstimulated, something felt off. I started to ask myself what cultural story was being built around this idea.

Over time, I came to a theory. I think this trend is connected to a broader rise in social conservatism among Zillennials and Gen Z. It is easy to point to the fact that 46 percent of young voters supported Trump in the last election, but the shift did not begin there. In many ways, it has been developing since around 2020. Social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and X have become digital ecosystems where subcultures quietly promote socially conservative ideals through aesthetics, language, and lifestyle.

Take the “overstimulation” explanation. When used to excuse bad behavior, it echoes older conservative beliefs that women lack emotional control. It subtly infantilizes women and leans on rhetoric portraying them as fragile, overly emotional, or in need of paternal guidance. The idea that women are too unpredictable or too emotional to lead is not new. The overstimulation framing feels like a modern repackage of that narrative, even when it comes from young people who do not consider themselves political.

You can see a similar dynamic in the rise of creators like Nara Smith. Her content is wholesome and entertaining, especially her ability to make almost anything from scratch. But the trend around her aligns with a return to themes of femininity, modesty, domesticity, and traditional gender roles. The messaging is subtle, but it supports a broader conservative vision of gender and family life.

Male subcultures reflect this shift too. The old money aesthetic, like the quarter zip trend, appears to be simply about clean, timeless style. But it carries themes of hierarchy, class identity, and traditional structure. Fitness content that promotes discipline, cold plunges, strict routines, and stoic masculinity often includes commentary on gender roles as well. These trends emphasize individualism over community and map closely to cultural conservative values.

On the surface, none of this looks political. Much of it is presented as entertainment, aesthetics, or lifestyle. But that is exactly why it spreads so effectively. A lot of modern conservatism is packaged as personal choice and empowerment rather than as overt ideology. The politics appear after the fact.

I want to be clear about something. This is not an argument about women themselves or anyone with real sensory challenges. I am talking about the cultural narrative forming around women in online spaces. These narratives make women appear fragile, emotionally unpredictable, or unable to regulate themselves. They are not new ideas. They are old beliefs returning through trends that feel modern and harmless.

This is where things become interesting. Zillennials and Gen Z are shaping a new kind of political identity, one that does not fit neatly into older categories. Many young people are becoming culturally conservative while remaining economically liberal, especially in support of populist economic policies. This challenges the long-held assumption that every new generation becomes more progressive. If this pattern continues, it could shift voting behavior, political debates, and the overall direction of American society.

This subtle cultural turn might end up being one of the clearest signs of where the next decade of American politics is heading.

At the time, I dismissed it as exaggeration. But tragedies like the Evergreen High School shooting, where a 16-year-old, active on forums filled with violent videos and white supremacist rhetoric, shot two classmates before turning the gun on themselves, make me see the logic in what he meant. Similar concerns arise as more details emerge about the killing of Charlie Kirk, where early reports suggest the suspect may also have been consuming extremist content.

When Eminem dropped “White America” (2002), it wasn’t just another rap song, it was a cultural x-ray. He exposed the fault lines in America’s race, class, and grievance politics. Today, the vacuum he left is being filled by figures like Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes. That shift matters. Eminem embodied white male rage, but unlike today’s grievance merchants, he forced self-reflection. He showed millions of young men that the “enemy” wasn’t some imagined “other,” it was often the system itself, and sometimes even their own choices.

Take the opening verse:
“I never would've dreamed in a million years I'd see / So many motherf*ckin’ people who feel like me / Who share the same views and the same exact beliefs / It's like a f*ckin’ army marchin’ in back of me.”

Here, Eminem names what we now call grievance culture: an “army” of alienated young men, united not by politics but by disillusionment. That same energy is what extremist movements prey upon today.

Eminem knew the stakes because he was their reflection. His personal story mirrors the backgrounds of many who later spiraled into violence: poverty, neglect, addiction, rage. The difference is that he channeled those destructive impulses into art.

And he didn’t shy away from the role race played in his success:
“Look at these eyes, baby blue, baby just like yourself / If they were brown, Shady’d lose, Shady sits on the shelf / … If I was Black, I would’ve sold half.”

Unlike today’s grievance merchants, Eminem admitted how identity and privilege shaped his career. That self-awareness mattered.

He also called out cultural hypocrisy:
“Surely hip-hop was never a problem in Harlem, only in Boston / After it bothered the fathers of daughters startin’ to blossom.”

Hip-hop wasn’t demonized when it was Black. It only became a national panic when white suburban kids embraced it. Eminem became the scapegoat for parents and politicians who didn’t want to face the deeper issues of youth anger and alienation.

By the outro, he pulls no punches:
“So to the parents of America, I am the Derringer… The ringleader of this circus of worthless pawns / Sent to lead the march right up to the steps of Congress.”

He saw himself as both mirror and weapon, exposing the hypocrisies of a country that championed free speech while recoiling from its consequences.

That’s the brilliance of “White America.” It wasn’t just critique, it was a warning. Eminem showed how white grievance could be acknowledged, critiqued, and redirected without scapegoating others. He wasn’t perfect, his music was often misogynistic, homophobic, and deeply problematic. But at his peak, he symbolized the possibility of turning rage into art, not violence.

This is the vacuum we face today. There isn’t an Eminem-like figure serving as that outlet. Instead, alienated young men are increasingly drawn to Tate, Fuentes, and others who channel grievance into misogyny, racism, and scapegoating. Eminem, for all his flaws, did the opposite: he forced young white men to look inward, not outward.

His broader catalog reinforces this point:
“Stan” (2000): a story of obsession and misdirected anger.
“The Way I Am” (2000): pushing back against critics while validating kids who felt cornered.
“Mosh” (2004): urging political protest, not self-destruction.
“Cleaning Out My Closet” (2002): giving language to family trauma.
“Lose Yourself” (2002): turning restlessness into ambition.

Eminem’s work offered self-awareness instead of scapegoating. That’s something America desperately needs right now.

Which brings us to “The Real Slim Shady” (2000). In the song, Eminem acknowledges:
“And there’s a million of us just like me / Who cuss like me, who just don’t give a f*ck like me / Who dress like me, walk, talk and act like me / And just might be the next best thing, but not quite me.”

He knew there were millions of angry young men across America who felt the same rage he did. But instead of denying it, he gave it a voice. He made alienation public, not secret.

When he says:
“I’m only givin’ you things you joke about with your friends inside your livin’ room / The only difference is I got the balls to say it in front of y’all.”

He captures the same logic conservative media now weaponizes under “free speech” rhetoric. But unlike today’s far-right influencers, Eminem’s outlet wasn’t hate or violence, it was satire, parody, and uncomfortable honesty.

And when he raps:
“Every single person is a Slim Shady lurkin’… He could be working at Burger King, spittin’ on your onion rings.”

He reminds us that alienation is everywhere. But crucially, Eminem’s message wasn’t about turning that alienation outward into scapegoating, it was about laughing at it, owning it, and expressing it.

In the end, Eminem wasn’t just rapping, he was offering a generation an outlet that kept their anger in art instead of violence. Whether or not he’s “top 5” is debatable. But his cultural influence is undeniable.

So, will the real Slim Shady please stand up?

Still, many people with cancer say something powerful: sometimes the treatment feels worse than the disease. The pain, stress, and cost can be so much that just living with the illness feels easier.

This idea also shows up in politics. Many people, especially Trump supporters, believe America is sick. They think his policies, even if they hurt in the short term, are needed to heal the country. One example is tariffs. Supporters say tariffs help protect American factories, bring back jobs, and make the country safer. But these policies can also raise prices for everyday people and hurt small businesses.

So, here’s the big question: is the pain worth it? Just like in medicine, the answer isn’t simple. It depends on who feels the pain, who decides what’s “sick,” and who gains from the “cure.”

With tariffs, it’s usually regular people and small business owners who feel the pain. So, we have to ask: Are tariffs fixing the problem? Or are they just making things worse?

Think about this: imagine your doctor gives you a treatment. It makes you feel worse. The doctor pauses, sees the side effects, but then gives you the same treatment again. Would you keep trusting that doctor? Most people wouldn’t. They’d find someone new.

The same goes for government. If a policy is causing harm, and leaders keep pushing it anyway, that’s not good leadership; that’s bad decision-making. We must think carefully about the impact of these choices, not just their goals.

In the end, whether in medicine or politics, what matters most is how people are affected. Pain doesn’t always mean progress. If a “cure” is hurting more than it’s helping, it may be time to rethink what we’re doing or find a new plan altogether.

Each voter had their reasons. From the diehard MAGA loyalists who wouldn’t blink if he shot someone in an alley to those simply concerned about the rising cost of groceries, every Trump voter had a rationale that made sense to them.

One thing Trump excels at is convincing people that he alone can solve their specific issue in a vacuum. Maybe you’re a law-abiding immigrant from Cuba or Venezuela, worried about the rise in illegal immigration. You believe Trump will fix this problem without it ever affecting you. That is, until one day, he rescinded the temporary legal status of over 500,000 Cubans, Venezuelans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans. One of those people turns out to be your cousin, your friend, or your loved one.

Maybe you think DEI has gone too far in the federal government and that too many Black people are landing jobs based solely on the color of their skin. You want a return to meritocracy. You think you’ve won. Then you realize that veterans are included under the DEI umbrella, and suddenly, your status as one doesn’t carry the same weight. Or perhaps no one told you that being a white woman also makes you vulnerable?

Then, there’s the promise to gut the federal workforce. You might assume that only “liberal” DC jobs are on the chopping block. Then your Department of Interior position in Cheyenne, Wyoming ends up on the list.

And don’t even get me started on tariffs. Many of the CEOs who once cozied up to Trump at his inauguration are now scrambling to protect their bottom lines.

What Trump ultimately reveals is the deep vein of selfishness and individualism that runs through American culture. There’s this persistent belief that “othering” people will never touch us because we aren’t them.

If I could, I’d put the whole country in a biology class. Maybe then we’d understand that we’re part of an ecosystem, where everything is connected. In nature, there’s no such thing as isolation. Harm to one part eventually affects the whole. We like to believe we’re separate, that we can strip resources, exclude others, or dismantle systems without consequence. But biology teaches us otherwise. Just like in an ecosystem, our survival depends on mutual support, balance, and understanding the relationships that bind us together.

We might be at the top of the food chain, but that doesn't exempt us from the basic rules of nature:

1. Everything is connected to everything else.

2. Everything must go somewhere.

3. Nature knows best.

4. Nothing comes from nothing.
